BHEGroup provided civil engineering and land surveying services for the design and construction of the University of Oregon’s new 380,000 square foot basketball arena, training center, practice courts and associated site improvements, including at-grade parking, as well as a below-grade parking structure. An Alumni Center building was constructed on the parking garage. The project provides an intercollegiate competition facility for men’s and women’s basketball, and will also support practices, preparations, competitions and spectator amenities such as artistic and other sports performances.
BHEGroup provided Civil Engineering design services; including site demolition, erosion control, horizontal control, site grading, storm drain, sanitary sewer, domestic and fire protection water and vehicular pavements. Phase 1 of the public improvements entailed the rerouting of storm drain and sanitary sewer lines to facilitate construction on the Arena site. Phase 2 included improvements at various other locations near the site, including Franklin Blvd., to accommodate the additional transportation burden created by the Arena development. The project included an extensive collaboration with the landscape architect in the development of the site design, grading and visible sustainable stormwater solutions.
