It's not easy being a land surveyor. This week, BHEGroup's land surveyors were working near Newport, Oregon on a survey for a client's land use application. The weather hovered around 50 degrees with rain and gusty winds. The crew was surveying along Highway 101, a busy tourist thoroughfare. In order to accurately survey the terrain, the crew also had to climb down into a canyon, through the brush. Yet, the crew finished the week with a smile, knowing they had done their job well.

recently changed its name to BHEGroup.
The executives at Balzhiser & Hubbard Engineers in Eugene had thought about changing the company’s name for a few years. Then they finally made it happen.
In December, the engineering and surveying firm announced that it would be named BHEGroup.

J. Daniel Koziol, PE
has joined BHEGroup as a Civil Engineer in the Eugene office. He brings over 8 years of professional engineering experience working both in the United States and abroad. Most recently, Daniel worked for an international consulting firm in Christchurch, New Zealand. A native of Eugene, Oregon, Daniel graduated in 2005 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Environmental Resource Engineering from Humboldt State University in Arcata, California.

In 1954, Jim Balzhiser founded a mechanical engineering firm in Eugene, Oregon. On October 15, 2015, Monica Anderson, BHE's President and Principal Civil Engineer was honored as a 2015 Women of Vision by the Daily Journal of Commerce. This award honors women in the architecture, engineering, construction and supporting industries for their leadership, mentorship, community involvement and promotion of diversity. Monica was one of 25 women in the Portland area who were honored at a luncheon at the Sentinel Hotel.
When asked about what she likes best about her work, Monica responded, "One of the things I like best is ultimately tangible. I drive by buildings and bridges and projects we've been involved with and feel a sense of pride knowing that we had a hand in that. It's very gratifying."
The new St. Charles Health System hospital in Prineville opened for business today and saw the first patients in the Emergency Room and at the Family Care Clinic. This new $30 million health care campus replaces the Pioneer Memorial Hospital and includes a primary care and specialty physician clinic along with hospital services including inpatient beds, an emergency department, surgery suites, a laboratory and imaging services.
BHE served as the mechanical engineer for the integrated design/build team of Neenan Company and Twin Rivers Plumbing for this project. Our scope of service included the plumbing system design, the medical and dental gas/vacuum systems, HVAC systems including a chilled and heated water system, direct digital control building automation system and energy efficiency requirements which resulted in energy use 20-25% below mandated codes.

Jamey Montoya, PLS, BHE's land survey manager answered that question this morning for the Commercial Investment Division group of Lane County this morning. His presentation, given to the group of local real estate professionals, focused on when a land survey is required, what a survey entails and how to hire a land surveyor.
