Residents of Eugene are reminiscing about sunny summer days spent watching baseball at Civic Stadium and mourning the loss of the historic building in a fire. BHE Survey crews remember a day spent testing new Terrestrial Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) scanning equipment at the facility. This specialized technology takes a virtual snapshot in the form of a three-dimensional point cloud, assisting engineers with clash detection, verifying tolerances or creating a virtual as-built of installed equipment. All of the dimensions shown are sub-centimeter accurate and can be used to measure window sizes, grout joint spacing, interior pipes, existing joint locations and sizes, etc.
